Remediation of contaminated soils

Remediation is the treatment or set of operations carried out with the objective of recovering the quality of the contaminated subsoil (soils and associated groundwater).
There are different techniques that allow reaching the optimal residual pollution values to guarantee the health of people and ecosystems, according to the defined uses of the place.
The methodologies are applied depending on the needs of the project (type of polluting substance, hydrogeological model, limitations, etc.) and it is often necessary to implement two or more techniques to decontaminate the soil.
Remediation projects require an exhaustive characterization of the subsoil as well as appropriate pilot tests.

In this way, it is possible to develop a hydrogeological conceptual model adjusted to the place, which allows to know the origin and the mechanisms of displacement of the contamination in the underground environment.
